July 4th Retreat
Yoga & Meditation Retreat
July 2 - 5, 2010 w/ Surya
Rolling Meadows
July 4th is America's celebration of our freedom as a nation. Despite this external freedom, "we're all doing time," as Bo Lazoff once said in his book of that title. Real and lasting freedom arises when we are released from our conditioning- both conscious and unconscious. We are often prisoners of patterns of thought and belief that no longer serve us, preventing us from experiencing the joy that is here right now in this moment. Yoga might be considered a journey from the head to the heart. As we are able to turn our attention to and abide in the heart, we experience greater peace, love and freedom that is always present under the stream of thoughts that can keep us distracted.
"The heart is the hub of all sacred places. Go there and roam in it."
Sri Nityananda
With the support of yoga postures, pranayama, restorative poses, yoga nidra, meditation, self-inquiry and unstructured time in nature, this retreat will be an opportunity to experience and be this freedom, the essence of Yoga.
This three-night retreat begins with evening meal at 6pm on Friday July 2nd and ends at about mid-morning on Monday July 5th after a morning session and a late breakfast.
