Labor Day Weekend Retreat The Undefended Heart
August 31 - September 3, 2012   w/ Surya
Rolling Meadows
Brooks, Maine

"You know quite well deep within you, that there is only a single magic, a single power, a single salvation.. and that is called loving."   Hermann Hesse

We all know and wish to live with the qualities of joy and love that naturally arise when we are living from the fullness of an open and undefended heart.   When we refer to the heart, we find that our capacity for receptivity is boundless. In spite of this knowing, we often act from habitual mental patterns that cause us to divide, separate, compare or shut down, all of which results in a closed heart.

Using the practices of yoga asana, yin yoga, pranayama, restorative poses, self-inquiry and meditation we become acquainted with the habitual patterns of conditioning that keep us from living from our heart.

Yoga and meditation help us to become aware of these unhelpful patterns.   By becoming familiar with the bodily sensations and the movement of breath we notice when we are living from conditioning.   As we practice bringing affectionate awareness to our body and shift the center of attention from thinking to our heart center we begin to let go of the armor that keeps us from living in the fullness of who we really are in each moment.

This three night retreat begins with evening meal at 6pm Friday and ends at about mid-morning on Monday after a late breakfast.
